Time Marches On

By | December 5, 2019

Time marches on.  Refuges once cast upon the stars drift along through strife and flame.  The days slowly become weeks.  Fear is replaced by uncertainty.  The weeks stretch into months.  Uncertainty is slowly eroded away by community.  Months span into the void and become years.  Community becomes family, with its own strife and accord.

Time marches on.  The flames of lust become the warm embers of love.  Not all love survives the tempering of time and eventually cools to partnership.  The heart seeks elsewhere while the soul longs for a home.   Others survive the crucible of time and family is strengthened as it grows.  A new generation is born that only knows family and void.

Time marches on.  Community creates division.  As time works its way beings find new commonality and individuality.  Voices rise and beings listen.  Dissidences broils in the distance, time carries strife on its wings.  Communities are tested but family is stronger.  Dissidences dissipate into election.  While in the best of intents elections do not hold up to the test of time.  The community continues its drift through the void for home.

Time marches on.  As the distance grows greater from the storm it grows closer to the once flames of war.  Flames burn bright but in time are reduced to embers, though embers can still reignite the flame once more.  The community passes worlds that once were lush but the flames of war have left their mark.  Civilizations rise and fall. Some by through their own accomplishments and hands. Others are raised through the whims of greater beings and topple the same.  Monuments become markings, gravestones for time.

Time is uncaring in its steady march forward.  It is what beings do with it while in its flow that defines them.  Time will not remember them but the wind it sails upon can carry their voices forward for future generations.  The community alone in the vastness of the void, with the echoes of time around them, continues their trip home.  Unknowingly they add to the voices of time, a song that might be heard for generations to come.

Time, time marches on.
